As we stand upon the mount, the sound of battle is silenced once more and the hope and pride of Old Glory is raised yet again. The terrible price we had to pay to achieve this moment is temporarily overshadowed by the thrill of victory. . .. The true cost of war is measured in the names of those who fought and died in our stead and in the amount of blood that was shed upon every battlefield throughout history. Let us not forget when we are standing victorious, when peace yet again reigns, what it was that brought us to this point. Let us lift our eyes and hearts to heaven and weep for those left behind in the darkness of battle, for those whose greatness paid the price for us all. - Excerpt from "Mount of Glory," Denise K Young © 1999
